Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that even in the most difficult times, the SCO partners showed a truly “Shanghai spirit” of solidarity by providing mutual humanitarian assistance. In addition, Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev said that a decisive change in the response to the pandemic is possible only if a coordinated approach to mass immunization of the population is taken.
“Therefore, using the terminology of the UN, we cannot afford to “leave anyone behind.” Here Kazakhstan has something to offer – our QazVac vaccine, as they say, has passed the “battle test”. Clinical trials have proven its effectiveness, and we have already begun to supply the drug to neighboring countries as humanitarian aid. Two more Kazakhstan developments – Naruvax-C19 and Naruvax-C19/Nano – are included in the register of the World Health Organization as vaccine candidates against COVID-19. I am convinced that the acceleration of the procedure for mutual recognition of vaccination passports in the SCO states and their integration into multilateral systems will contribute to overcoming the difficulties and challenges faced by our countries,” said the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed to instruct the Organization’s Secretariat, together with the Consortium of SCO Economic Analytical Centers, to carry out appropriate work and provide their views for the next Summit.
“In practical terms, I consider it important to ensure the early launch of unified financial mechanisms for the accelerated implementation of already agreed joint economic projects. Unfortunately, their chronic “stalling” leads to tangible reputational risks for our Organization in the business circles of the participating countries,” said the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
